TOPIC: "Micro-Internships: Benefits and Best Practices for Short-Term, Professional Projects

DATE: Friday, February 17, 2023; 1:00 - 2:00 pm EST

DESCRIPTION:

Have you struggled to engage the academically focused students or the students who lack confidence in pursuing traditional 10–12 week internships? Micro-internships could be one of the solutions! Micro-internships are being used to improve hiring outcomes, create talent pipelines, and engage college students prior to junior or senior year.

Are micro-internships a steppingstone to longer-term internships? Join career development practitioners in discussing best practices for engaging students and employers through micro-internships. Topics could include benefits, micro-internship programs and models, and integrating micro-internships into academic courses.

Host: Mark Isenburg, Assistant Director, Employer Connections, University of Denver

Guests:

  • Dr. Elizabeth Leininger - New College of Florida, Associate Professor of Biology, SET SAIL Program Director (NCF first-year program)
  • Kristin Schrader - Director of Partnerships at Parker-Dewey
