TOPIC: "Apprenticeships Across the US"
DATE: Tuesday, February 21, 2023; Noon - 1:00 pm EST
DESCRIPTION:
The role of apprenticeships, as a form of work-integrated learning, is expanding across the US. Growth in apprenticeships is accelerating in the tech industry, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, business operations and finance. Today’s learners come from increasingly diverse backgrounds, cultures, socioeconomic status and age with many requiring to work as they go through their education or in addressing their need for re-skilling. US states and post-secondary institutions are responding, with funding and emerging apprenticeship programs to help bridge the gap.
In this panel discussion, we will learn from experts from four different states who will share the benefits that apprenticeships have for student learning, the benefits for the employer, the benefits for the post-secondary institution and the local economy as a whole. In addition, information will be shared as to forming, launching, and running a successful apprenticeship program and how common challenges can be overcome. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions to our panel towards the end of the session.
